HCMC – The first batches of agricultural products on the first day of the Lunar New Year, January 22, passed through the Vietnam-China border gates in the northern province of Lao Cai.

Vietnam has exported over 350 tons of fruit to the northern market, including 150 tons of dragon fruit, 130 tons of jack fruit, 40 tons of rambutan and 35 tons of mango, the management board of economic zones in Lao Cai reported.

On the same day, over 100 tons of vegetables also crossed the Kim Thanh II international border gate in Lao Cai.

The import-export turnover of agro products passing the border gate in the year through January 21 had totaled US$64.6 million, with US$24.6 million from import and US$40 million from export.

This year, Lao Cai has set an export target of US$5 billion, doubling the figure recorded in 2022.

The number of vehicles passing the border gate has averaged out 250 trucks per day since China eased its Covid-19 rules, the board said.
