HCMC - Many provinces and cities, including Danang, Quang Nam, Hung Yen, Yen Bai and Hoa Binh, have stepped up efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19 after several locally-transmitted cases were detected in the country.

Danang Chairman Le Trung Chinh last night, May 3, ordered the suspension of many nonessential services, including bars, pubs, entertainment centers and karaoke parlors, and cultural and sporting activities and festivals from May 4 until further notice to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

Apart from banning mass gatherings of more than 30 persons at parties, and suspending bathing at sea, the municipal government asked kindergartens to close down, while students at other education and training centers and schools were allowed to stay home for online learning.

The chairman of Danang City also told restaurants and eateries to strictly follow anti-Covid-19 measures and provide take-away services, the local media reported.

Due to fears over the Covid-19 spread at crowded beaches, Quang Ninh Province also suspended bathing at sea from today until May 23. In addition, the province shut down nonessential services, including bars, Internet cafes, gaming centers, discos and massage and karaoke parlors during the period.

Following suit, Hung Yen Province asked students to stay home for online learning from May 4 until further notice to prevent the disease.

Students in Quang Nam Province were also allowed to stay home from today until a new decision is issued, while the Hoi An pedestrian street was temporarily closed down.

Besides, Vinh Phuc Province’s Yen Lac District has set up four checkpoints after a resident of Dong Van Commune in the district tested positive for the virus on May 3.

As a way to enhance efforts in the fight against Covid-19, the government of Hoa Binh Province on May 3 told the provincial Department of Health to conduct tests on the football players of Hai Nam Vinh Phuc Football Club, who arrived in Hoa Binh Province for a national football match on May 3. Apart from this, the referees and players of Hoa Binh Football Club also had their samples tested before the match, which was set to take place this afternoon.
