76 Covid-19 infections reported, all in Bac Giang, Bac Ninh

HCMC – The Ministry of Health confirmed 76 new Covid-19 cases by community transmission this evening, May 23, with 57 cases in Bac Giang Province and the remainder in Bac Ninh.

The new Covid-19 patients in Bac Giang were linked to industrial zones, while the cases in Bac Ninh had come into close contact with previous cases.

The country recorded a total of 131 fresh cases today, including 129 locally-infected cases and two imported ones. Further, the community transmission tally in the latest wave since April 27 has reached 2,165 cases in 30 provinces and cities.

The northern provinces of Bac Giang and Bac Ninh now remain the two biggest hotspots with 919 and 467 cases, respectively.

In related news, two families in the Times City urban area in Hanoi’s Hoang Mai District have been suspected as Covid-19 infections, the Hanoi Center for Disease Control said this afternoon.

They included the parents, the younger brother of a Covid-19-infected boy living in the Park 11 block and an Indian mother and her child in the Park 9 block. These two blocks were locked down today.

Earlier, the Health Ministry on May 4 had reported a Covid-19 case who is an Indian expert living in the Park 10 block. Overall, the Times City urban area has reported seven coronavirus cases in this latest wave.
