Rafael Benitez 'fought' to keep Sergio Ramos

Rafa Benitez says he ‘fought more than anyone’ to keep Sergio Ramos at Real Madrid and insists he gets along with every one of his squad.

The Spanish defender was linked with a move away from Bernabeu Stadium this summer and according to Sky sources was the subject of a £28.6m bid from Manchester United.

However Ramos remained in Spain, signed a new 5-year contract and was made club captain following the departure of Iker Casillas to Porto in the summer.
