HCMC – The Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) has written to the Government and the Ministry of Health asking for support with Covid-19 inoculation as the number of Covid-19 infections, mainly in industrial parks, is rising.

Many apparel firms have secured multiple orders for production until the end of the year. If textiles and garments are not produced and delivered to customers as contracted due to the spread of Covid-19, apparel firms would face heavy losses, said VITAS.

As such, VITAS proposed the prime minister and the Ministry of Health prioritize Covid-19 vaccination for firms with a large number of workers, mainly apparel companies, at pandemic-hit areas and allow firms to buy Covid-19 vaccines to contribute to fulfilling the goal of achieving herd immunity as soon as possible.

The association also proposed the prime minister and the ministry create favorable conditions to call on international firms, partners and organizations to contribute to the Covid-19 vaccination fund, Phap Luat Online reported.

On May 17, the Bac Ninh government decided to suspend the operations of four industrial parks in the province to prevent the spread of Covid-19, posing a concern to major firms active in the apparel field.
