Da Nang festival showcases Japan, Vietnam specialties

The Japan-Vietnam Festival 2022 kicked off in Da Nang on Thursday night with a series of activities featuring Japanese traditional art and cuisine.

As part of the festival, an exhibition of traditional Japanese dolls was also inaugurated at Bien Dong Park, attracting a significant number of locals and visitors.

The exhibition features dozens of traditional Japanese doll artworks illustrating the aesthetic of Japanese women in traditional costume Kimono or depicting renowned characters in Japanese traditional forms of theater Noh and Kabuki, as well as numerous popular dolls from the land of the rising sun.

Japanese dolls embody cultural customs, aspirations of Japanese citizens, and specific religious beliefs that have evolved through centuries in various shapes.

In Japanese culture, a doll is not only a decorative object, but also a soulmate that represents the owner's emotions.

This year's Japan-Vietnam Festival will run till Sunday at Bien Dong Park, Son Tra District, featuring numerous art programs.

Visitors will enjoy art programs showcasing the distinctive culture and art of Vietnam and Japan, including hat tuong (classical Vietnamese opera), Japanese calligraphy, traditional and contemporary dance, Vietnam and Japan martial art performances, and Japanese cuisine performances, among others.

Moreover, 70 booths arranged by domestic and international organizations and units will introduce the culture, information, education, study abroad, tourism, trade, and gastronomy of the two nations.

In preparation for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, this program aims to increase mutual understanding and cultural interaction of the two peoples.
