Vietnam, Japan shares experience in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises

Addressing the seminar, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Dang Huy Dong emphasised that the force of small and medium-sized enterprises play an important role in Vietnam’s socio-economic development.


The event aimed to offer an opportunity for enterprises and relevant agencies from Vietnam and Japan to exchange information and experience, towards co-operation, to effectively support small and medium-sized enterprises.


According to Hiroshi Arai from the Department of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises under Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan has set out policies and mechanisms supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, gaining remarkable results.


At the seminar, many economic experts said that Vietnamese small and medium-sized enterprises showed several weaknesses, particularly in relation to management capacity, technology and capital.


Therefore, the Government and relevant ministries and agencies must pay much attention to support the small and medium-sized enterprises in order to promote the development of this business bloc, particularly those in the field of auxiliary industry.


Experts from the Japanese side shared that the Japanese Government supports and encourages enterprises to focus on creative and innovative activities, develop their business activities in foreign countries, develop new products, and innovate technologies.


In addition, they said that even small and medium-sized enterprises need to overcome weaknesses and limitations in order to take advantages of opportunities and support for their development.


The Ministry of Planning and Investment has prepared a draft law on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises to submit to the Government. It includes four chapters and 40 articles.
