Crab Festival 2022 kicks off in Ca Mau

HCMC – The Crab Festival’s opening ceremony took place in Ca Mau City with the participation of 500 delegates and a large number of locals on the evening of December 23, reported the local media.

This is the first time the festival has been held in Ca Mau City, attracting thousands of domestic and foreign tourists. The event will last nine days, from December 23 to 31.

Some main activities comprise a trade fair, an exhibition of OCOP products (One Commune-One Product), folk games and sports competitions and street festivals.

In particular, the crab festival is highlighted and characterized by crab racing and tied crab performances from December 24 to 26, a Masterchef contest setting a record of 69 dishes made from the Ca Mau crab and the Largest Ca Mau Crab contest.

Additionally, many forums and seminars are scheduled at the event to discuss important issues in the province, including solutions to prolong the stay of tourists, intellectual property and crab farming’s sustainable development.

The Ca Mau Crab Festival creates a good opportunity to promote the brand of Ca Mau crab and other local specialties, attract more domestic and international travelers, as well as seek investment and cooperation, according to Le Van Su, vice chairman of the Ca Mau People’s Committee.

The province has stocked up on 260-300 tons of crabs and encouraged local people to harvest them to ensure an adequate supply for the festival and stabilize the crab prices on this occasion.
