Int'l Mekong Delta agriculture festival to highlight science, technology
The information was announced at a press conference jointly held by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Ho Chi Minh City on February 15.
The event, to be organised under the co-operation of relevant ministries and 13 provinces and cities in the region, will feature specific ways to effectively apply science and technology in agricultural production.
Four countries and territories have so far registered to attend the festival including Thailand, China, the Republic of Korea and Taiwan (China).
The five-day festival will include various activities including an exhibition of agricultural technology and products on a scale of 300 to 500 pavilions.
The highlights of the festival will include a seminar on the application of science and technology in enhancing productivity and the quality of agricultural production.
Director of the Centre for Research and Application Development of Vietnamese Brands Phan Thi My Yen said that the quality of farm produce remains a crucial issue as it affects the competitiveness of products. She added that the event aims to call on further co-operation between scientists and investors to improve the quality of agricultural products to compete with products from foreign countries.
The Mekong Delta is the granary of the country and is contributing over 40% to the national agricultural production value.
