Express delivery: An important link in Logistics in the digital economy in 2022
Vietnam's digital economy is one of the hottest markets in Southeast Asia, with three backbone industries:
Disadvantages of traditional delivery
Before its establishment in 2016, members of the Ship60 founding team had worked for years in the e-commerce and logistics industries, gaining practical experience in senior management positions at domestic and foreign enterprises such as Unilever, Friesland Campina, Kuehne Nagel as well as Vin Group, Sun Group. Realizing that guaranteed delivery time was a major failing of traditional delivery systems, Phung Khac Huy and his co-workers created a delivery network connecting individuals or organizations wishing to transport goods with a network of thousands of drivers in Vietnam, helping them easily find shippers and save transportation costs.
Applying the advantages of the sharing economy, Ship60 is built according to the on-demand economy model focusing on items that need fast delivery, taking advantage of idle time and same routes and deploying in big cities of each country, the company director explained.
Reduced delivery time
Ship60 has quickly expanded and developed a network of cargo handling centers in most districts, ensuring processing capacity, packing and shipping with optimal timing.
In addition, the Ship60 team advises customers on finding the most suitable operating models tailored for their requirements instead of a single one-size-fit-all delivery service. Apart from delivery within 60 minutes at VND1,000 per km, Ship60 provides COD collection and advance payment service and full insurance of goods to ensure reliability.
To deploy this new delivery platform in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), startup ship60 received investment in the seeding round from Vietnam Silicon Valley, an investment fund under the Ministry of Science and Technology to support the growth of technology businesses. Ship60 now provides shipping services for big customers like Lazada, Vascara, and hundreds of businesses operating in the field of e-commerce in HCMC.
Based on a motto of applying experience from the “big companies” to optimize operations, Ship60 has invested in dozens of trucks, expanded cargo handling stations throughout the districts in HCMC and Hanoi, attracting hundreds of new drivers and pioneering as the leading same-day delivery unit in Vietnam.
As of November 2021, Ship60 had cooperated with most major e-commerce partners such as Lazada, Tiki, and Sendo.
Recently, Ship60 was honored as the only representative of Vietnam in the Top 15 Southeast Asia Startup World Cup 2021. To meet market demand, Ship60 is gradually expanding to order fulfillment services based on a micro-fulfillment center (MFC) model towards providing a comprehensive solution from warehousing, order processing and delivery to end users, thereby increasing the warehouse coverage in HCMC and Hanoi and optimizing processing time for each order. This is also the most effective solution for brands and small and medium-sized enterprises in Vietnam. The micro-fulfillment service helps ease concerns about warehousing costs and bottlenecks and is especially suitable for the business model of fast-moving consumer goods.
