Work on three key infrastructure projects to start in HCMC by year-end

HCMC – HCMC will break ground on three key traffic infrastructure projects by the end of this year to ease traffic congestion in the city, according to the HCMC Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Projects.

These three projects comprise a road linking Tran Quoc Hoan Street and Cong Hoa Street in Tan Binh District, the National Highway 50 expansion project and the An Phu interchange in Thu Duc City.

The road project to connect the streets of Tran Quoc Hoan and Cong Hoa will get off the ground on December 26 with an investment of over VND4.8 trillion.

With a width of 25-48 meters, the road will have six lanes, starting at the Tran Quoc Hoan-Phan Thuc Duyen junction and ending at the C12-Cong Hoa-Truong Chinh intersection.

It is expected to facilitate traffic around Terminal T3 of the Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

On December 28, the management board will start work on the National Highway 50 expansion project in Binh Chanh District. The 6.7-kilometer road section will be widened from 7.5 meters to 34 meters, requiring an estimated cost of nearly VND1.5 trillion.

National Highway 50 in the outlying district of Binh Chanh is frequently congested. Therefore, the upgrade and expansion project is necessary, according to the management board. It is slated for completion in 2024.

The An Phu interchange project at the city’s eastern gateway will start on December 30 with an investment of nearly VND3.9 trillion.

As per the project design, the three-level interchange will comprise two overpasses and a two-way underpass connecting the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway with Mai Chi Tho Avenue.
