Cuc Phuong National Park: A perfect holiday getaway to immerse yourself in ‘butterfly forest’

The week of Cuc Phuong Jungle and the sport-culture festival of ethnic minorities 2022 in Nho Quan District, northern Ninh Binh Province, starting from April 29, will entice holidaymakers to spend their vacation by offering a variety of new activities.

The festival week will consist of many activities such as ‘cong chien’ (gongs) dance performances, ‘mua sap’ (cheraw dance), music show, and sports activities such as men's volleyball, women's volleyball, and tug of war.

Around 29,000 members of the Muong ethnic group live in Ninh Binh Province's Nho Quan District, accounting for 15 percent of the district's population.

Muong villages, in particular, have maintained their indigenous culture. As a result, visitors to this event can look forward to making numerous exciting discoveries.

Having recently invested in a high-end resort in Cuc Phuong Commune, Nho Quan District with the mission of preserving indigenous culture and developing the tourism industry, Le Quoc Thinh, manager of Cuc Phuong Tourism Service Joint Stock Company, was delighted to share that the Muong villages in Nho Quan District remain intact.

Only one thing has improved significantly in recent years as Cuc Phuong tourism has grown, and that is the Muong people's quality of life.

It is a result of their ability to engage in both production and tourism services, Thinh said.

Apart from its cultural allure, the week of Cuc Phuong Jungle attracts tourists thanks to Cuc Phuong National Park, which was named Asia's top national park in 2019 and 2020 by the World Travel Awards.

Cuc Phuong National Park is internationally renowned for its conservation of rare flora and fauna, as well as Neolithic cultural artifacts.

However, the butterfly season in April and May, when the national park is transformed into a 'butterfly forest,' is the most enchanting reason to visit.

At the end of the rainy season, butterflies flock around this forest, particularly when the weather is sunny following days of torrential rain.

Over 400 species of butterflies are found here, including star butterflies and phoenix butterflies. The total number of butterflies may be in the millions.

Besides colorful butterfly wings, visitors can also engage in Cuc Phuong's unique maze, folk games like swings, seesaws, and other activities in this fascinating national park.

Those who prefer luxury tourism will be pleased, as the Nho Quan District has recently established a number of attractive procedures, policies, and conditions to encourage firms and individuals to participate in the smokeless industry here.

An eco-resort with plenty of shade and architectural works were designed and created by world-renowned Vietnamese architect Vo Trong Nghia, including the world's largest bamboo structure, which was constructed with 110,000 pieces of bamboo in two years by 80 workers and won three international architecture awards.

Apart from the bamboo structure, another of Vo Trong Nghia's works, a hotel section, also impresses visitors with its unique architectural style and deep gray colors that blend well with the surrounding greenery.
