Study The University of London International Foundation Program at BUV

Founded in 1836, University of London (UoL) is one of the oldest and largest universities in the UK. UoL is a federation of 17 independent member institutions of outstanding global reputation, ranging from larger universities such as the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) – ranking second in the world for Social Sciences & Management (2021 QS World University Rankings by Subject), or King’s College London – top 25 universities in the world (2016/17 QS World University Rankings).

BUV is the first and only recognized teaching center in Vietnam of The University of London International Foundation Program (IFP)

The International Foundation Program (IFP) prepares students with the skills, knowledge, and experience they need to gain direct entry to the international undergraduate degree. One of the advantages of IFP is the optimal time and cost as the students only take one year to complete the course instead of two years compared to other foundation programs.

Vietnamese students used to have to go to Singapore or the UK to study foundation programs. However, they can now study the IFP program awarded by University of London at British University Vietnam (BUV). BUV is one of more than 120 recognized teaching centers of University of London and is the only educational institution recognised by UoL for teaching IFP in Vietnam.

Students who have completed the program at BUV can choose to study abroad at University of London or many other universities in the UK and around the world; or go on to study the Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance degree at BUV, which is also directly awarded by University of London.

Upon completing IFP, students can apply to study at a wide range of universities in the UK and other countries around the world

At BUV, students are required to study three compulsory course modules, including Accounting, Mathematics and Statistics, Economics and one optional module among Pure Mathematics, International Relations, Business and Administration. At the end of the program, the students will be equipped with the fundamental academic knowledge, skills and learning methods required to gain direct entry to undergraduate degrees and quickly adapt to international university environments all around the world.

Outstanding skills that students are trained to use and develop during the program include critical thinking, the ability to approach and evaluate a subject from different perspectives, and the ability to learn & re-learn. These skills are not only helpful to students while studying at university but also a valuable asset for them on their future journey of work and life.

Hoang Tien Dat, IFP alumni of the year 2020, shared, “I didn't know much about economics, accounting or industrial relations before I came to IFP, but after a year of studying, I’m coming to a sense of better knowledge, and teaching and learning methods at international university. IFP really helped me build a firm ground so that I can move forward in the next year.” Having attended the Cambridge IGCSE program at Nguyen Sieu High School, Dat found that studying the IFP program at BUV is the next step aligning with his academic goals and learning path. Tien Dat is now studying the Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance program awarded by University of London at BUV.
