Vietnam’s 10 hospitable tourist destinations voted by int’l travelers

Central Vietnam’s Hoi An City has been named by global travelers as one of the country’ 10 most hospitable destinations, according to Booking.com.

The list is based on an analysis of over 232 million verified traveler reviews made on the travel and accommodation booking platform.

Since these reviews cannot be edited, travelers are able to reference them for an authentic account of real experiences at each accommodation listed on Booking.com, the platform said.

The destinations that made it to the top ten are rich in scenery and culture and offer guests welcoming experiences and unparalleled hospitality, making their journeys more enjoyable.

Hoi An, in Quang Nam Province, with its namesake, UNESCO-recognized ancient town, topped the ranking of Vietnam’s 10 most hospitable destinations.

The city was previously honored by global travelers on Booking.com as one of the '10 most welcoming cities on earth,' thanks to its authentic idyllic pace of life, romantic beaches, blend of Eastern and Western cultures, and diverse local cuisine.

The ancient town is known for its iconic architecture accented by ancient yellow brick houses.

Most tourists choose to explore the local handicraft shops in the area on foot or by bicycle.

Phong Nha Cave, in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Quang Binh Province, placed second on the list, thanks to its stunning natural beauty and the generosity of the locals who call the area 'home.'

Known for its massive cave system, colorful limestone stalactites, and dense primeval forests, Phong Nha is a top choice for young tourists with a desire to explore and connect with nature.

Tourists are also typically very impressed and appreciative of the warmth and enthusiasm of the boatmen on the Son River in the cave area.

Taking the third spot was the northern province of Ninh Binh, which is known to international tourists thanks to its majestic landscape, which was chosen as the backdrop for the Hollywood blockbuster 'Kong: Skull Island.'

Many who have visited the area say that the best way to explore it is to ask locals for recommendations on signature dishes to try and tourist attractions to check out.

Next on the list is Hue, the former imperial capital of Vietnam and current capital city of Thua Thien-Hue Province, located on the country’s central coast.

Mui Ne, in Binh Thuan Province’s Phan Thiet City, south-central Vietnam, also made the list due to all the activities available in the area, including sandboarding, windsurfing, kitesurfing, and kayaking.

Visitors to Mui Ne can spend a leisurely afternoon by a swimming pool and enjoy fresh seafood at the multitude of local restaurants that overlook the sea.

In sixth place is Tuy Hoa City in Phu Yen Province, south-central Vietnam – an area known for its beautiful coastline, history, and ancient Champa architecture.

Only a three-hour drive from Hanoi, Mai Chau District of the northern province of Hoa Binh came seventh, offering visitors the unforgettable experiences of cycling through picturesque rice fields, visiting ethnic minority villages, and enjoying the local traditional dance and musical performances.

As the home to Son Doong, the world’s largest known cave, Dong Hoi City in north-central Quang Binh Province is popular with international travelers and stands eighth on the list.

Exploring the magnificent Son Doong Cave and watching the sunlight peeking through its sinkholes make an experience that has been mentioned in newspapers and magazines around the world.

Known as the 'gateway to heaven,' Sa Pa Town in northern Lao Cai Province is an ideal place for visitors to 'immerse themselves in the sky and clouds.'

Fresh, cool air, and unique local culture make Sa Pa, which holds the ninth place, a favorite destination for travelers around the world.

Rounding out the list is Con Dao Island, which is administered by the southern province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

With a primitive natural landscape, including a clear blue coast rich in coral reefs, a quiet, peaceful atmosphere, and many historical and cultural imprints, the island is among the leading tourist destinations in Vietnam.
