HCMC - HCMC is stepping up efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19 by scaling up aggressive measures and widespread testing and enhancing monitoring operations due to the complicated development of the virus.
The HCMC steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control this afternoon, June 19 held an urgent meeting to discuss urgent solutions to contain Covid-19.
At the meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, HCMC Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen and HCMC Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong, Director of the HCMC Health Department Nguyen Tan Binh said that apart from monitoring the infection at hospitals and conducting Covid-19 screening tests on patients, the city would adopt drastic measures at industrial parks.
All employees at the export processing zones, hi-tech parks and industrial parks in HCMC where positive Covid-19 cases are detected are being tested.
It is necessary to continue implementing contact tracing and locking down high-risk areas effectively and promptly, and reduce the flow of people and vehicles coming into HCMC, said HCMC Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen.
Besides, competent forces should regularly check compliance with Covid-19 safety regulations and seriously tackle violators to succeed in bringing the disease under control within one week.
HCMC Chairman Phong said that although the city is practicing social distancing in line with the Prime Minister’s Directive 15, many new chains of infections have been discovered and the number of Covid-19 cases is ticking up.
As such, intensifying anti-Covid-19 measures is necessary to contain the spread of the virus, he said.
The municipal chairman asked the districts and Thu Duc City to proactively review the capacity of their health systems to adopt suitable solutions.
Deputy PM Binh told the city to deploy special and flexible solutions in the fight against the virus, adding that the best solutions are vaccine, safety protocols and technology.
Technology should be applied to vaccination, contact-tracing, quarantine and surveillance activities, the local media reported, citing the deputy prime minister.
