Bui Hui Steppe - Ideal camping spot in Quang Ngai, Vietnam

Located about 60 km southwest of Quang Ngai city center, the Bui Hui steppe possesses unspoiled beauty amidst majestic mountains and forests at an altitude of more than 700m above sea level. From the city center, visitors have to go to the center of Ba To district and then go about 10km, cross the winding road to Bui Hui steppe.

Through the concrete road, you will step into the Bui Hui steppe in Ba Trang commune, Ba To district (Quang Ngai). The recent rains have made the vast grasslands here greener and smoother. Young green grass hills are high in early autumn under the blue sky. Heaven - one-colored grass stretches endlessly. Standing on the top of a grassy hill in the middle of the sky, you can touch the blue sky with your hand, just like a European landscape.

In this vast area of high hills, no single tree family is in sight. Far away at the edge of the Bui Hui steppe are a few rows of bushes just slightly taller than a person's head. Below the grassy hill, the terraced fields of the Hre people turn golden in the sunlight, shimmering indescribably.

The steppe is dozens of hectares wide and the weather here is cool all year round. Especially the weather at night is often chilly, like in Da Lat or Sapa. Visitors are overwhelmed by the smooth green grasslands stretching far away when coming here. This is where the most natural myrtle trees grow in Quang Ngai province. At the end of March, sim on the Bui Hui steppe blooms in a very romantic purple color.

The sim flower season in the Bui Hui steppe lasts over a month. During that time, the purple color of sim flowers always stood out on the green grass, creating an extremely poetic scene suitable for camping and playing overnight. Sim on the steppe is protected and cared for by people to harvest fruit. When myrtle is ripe in May, people pick it and sell it.

But Bui Hui's specialties are grass hills, purple sim hills, and guava hills, which are decades old and rare to find anywhere else. This is a wild guava, cared for by the people, without cutting branches or roots, just growing.

By the third lunar month, ripe guavas are fragrant throughout the area; the fruits are as big as the tip of a thumb, hanging all over the tree branches. The scent of guava carries on the wind, and birds everywhere come to eat the fruit and chirp all day long, making Bui Hui even more interesting and attractive.

The scenic Bui Hui steppe of Quang Ngai province is still quite new to tourists. Recently, many people have come to the steppe for picnics and camping, so this place has become more widely known. On weekends or holidays, Tet, many clubs and groups of friends come to the grasslands for cultural exchanges.

In addition, coming here, you can explore the culture of the H're community in the Ba To district. Among them, the three gong performing art form of the H're people has been recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. Visitors will have the experience of enjoying the unique gong sounds of their compatriots.

Coming to Bui Hui steppe, visitors can enjoy grilled buffalo meat, chicken, and mountain frogs with a variety of forest vegetables and join the local people to weave traditional brocade, exchange dance, sing H'choi (Ka choi) and Tă teu (Ka leu), Brooc to be able to feel the unique culture of the H're people in the mountains of Quang Ngai province.
