HCMC-Trung Luong Expressway to be expanded to 10 lanes
HCMC – The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang has approved a plan to expand the HCMC-Trung Luong Expressway
Project Management Unit 7 will use the documents of the project’s Phase 1, handed over from the Department for Roads of Vietnam, the My Thuan Project Management Board and relevant authorities for making the proposal.
The HCMC-Trung Luong expressway has a total length of 61.9 kilometers, with the main route being around 40 kilometers and the access roads accounting for the remainder.
The project was opened to traffic in February 2010, with four vehicular lanes and two emergency lanes.
The expressway is now managed by the Road Management Zone IV under the Department for Roads of Vietnam of the Ministry of Transport.
Statistics showed that since toll collection was suspended in 2019, the number of vehicles using the expressway has surged. The expressway handles over 51,000 vehicles per day, leading to the road surface deteriorating.
