HÀ NỘI — A photo of a person collecting grass in Long An Province has won first prize in the Portrait category of the 2021 Skypixel photography contest.
The photo taken by photographer Nguyễn Hữu Bính in December last year captures the moment a farmer pulls a bunch of bang grass across some fields in Mỹ Hạnh Bắc Commune, Đuc Hòa District, Long An Province.
“Mỹ Hạnh Bắc is an area with alkaline soil, so farmers can only grow bang grass, which is used as a raw material for the production of straws. In the afternoon sunlight, with an overhead angle, the moment the farmer pulls bundles of grass across the green fields creates a natural and lively scene,” Bính said.
Bính had many other works submitted to the contest. All his photos capture the simple but poetic working life of farmers across Viet Nam.
Skypixel is a world-famous drone photo and video contest. 2021 is the seventh year of the contest, which has attracted nearly 30,000 entries from all over the world.
The photo contest is divided into four categories: Nature, Architecture, Portrait and Sports.
China’s Zhu Jianxin won the SkyPixel Photograph of the Year award for his photo of heavy snowfall in the Taklimakan Desert in Xinjiang, a rare event.
The contest is organised by China’s DJI, the world’s leading producer of camera drones, and the UK’s SkyPixel, the world’s most popular aerial photography community. VNS
