Eight solutions to improve agro-product quality and market

Mr Nguyen Khac Tien, Chairman of Board of Directors, Ameii Vietnam Joint Stock Company.

Hai Duong has many agro-products with great potentials for export, strengths and competitive advantages compared to other exporting countries. For instance, there are the Thanh Ha lychee, carrots, cabbage, and Kinh Mon garlic.

In the export season at the beginning of 2022, for example, Hai Duong carrots have been exported to the Korean market since the beginning, instead of waiting for the decline in the quantity of Chinese carrots. Businesses in the province signed large orders and delivered them as soon as Hai Duong carrots met export standards.

Evaluating this result at the Conference on summarizing the agricultural industry in Hai Duong province, Mr Nguyen Khac Tien, Chairman of Directors of Ameii Vietnam Joint Stock Company shared that, the reason for this mainly lies in the quality of the product, as well as the analysis and appropriate pricing strategy of businesses in adapting and meeting export demand in a "flat world".

“Policy promoting land accumulation to create large production areas, specialized cultivation areas and application of advanced technology in agricultural production have created products with good quality that met export’s demands (such as VietGAP, GlobalGAP, Organic...). Hai Duong agro-product is and already has affirmed the brand and quality of agricultural products in domestic and foreign markets," said Mr Tien.

Aiming towards advanced and sustainable agricultural production, Ameii leaders believe that businesses and localities need to join hands to create high-quality products with beautiful designs, meeting the needs and tastes of customers domestically and abroad.

For Ameii Vietnam, the company has actively contacted, purchased and formed product underwriting with many localities throughout the country. In Hai Duong, currently, the company is participating in 5 link chains supporting the consumption of agro-products for export with farmers, abiding by the policy of the province and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

After the 2021 lychee crop, high-quality Thanh Ha lychees are included in the link chain of the Company with the cooperative, after that, they are preliminarily processed, packed and supplied to domestic customers in accordance with export standards of the Japanese market.

Ameii Vietnam Joint Stock Company also made 8 proposals to improve the quality and expand the market for agro-products consumption. Which are:

(1) Forming Consulting Centers to aid the transition from the current agricultural production to high-quality agricultural production, helping the people with cultivating process, investment, and distribution system.

(2) Building communication channels, propagating and promoting high-quality products to help cooperatives and people reach more consumers. At the same time, forming commitments and companionship with localities and businesses in the early stages.

(3) Constructing an information support department regarding the market, prices, crop seasons, trends and new cultivation models to convey to each individual, village, commune, cooperative… through channels such as social networks, websites, or radio. At the same time, providing interchange, advice, and answers to questions when necessary.

(4) Review and evaluate the overall status of crops in the area to select the main, key products that are highly competitive with other regions or countries.

(5) Building a synchronous brand identity system for agro-products, including printed documents, digital documents displayed on web platforms, social networks, video clips and especially mascot selection to represent the province's agro-products, thereby assisting the telling of stories about agro-products associated with the merchandise.

(6) Motivating, encouraging people and cooperatives to participate in the link chains or production groups and departments to jointly assemble specialized products that are consistent in variety and quality. State management units should provide information on technical processes to unify land preparation, selection, planting, care, harvesting and form a close connection with purchasing and processing units and establishments.

(7) Studying policies’ mechanisms on interest rates and interest computation time to fund businesses' advanced investments for farmers in the link chain.

(8) Propagating, guiding and training farmers in knowledge, techniques, planting and caring processes of high-quality agro-products for export to many markets, especially high-end markets.
