HCMC - Vietnam’s Covid-19 tally rose to 9,222 this morning, June 9, after 64 new Covid-19 cases were reported, including 41 domestic infections and 23 imported ones.

Among the domestic infections, 24 were reported in Bac Giang and 17 others in Bac Ninh. All of them were detected in areas under lockdown or social distancing and are associated with Covid-19 clusters at industrial zones of the two provinces.

Regarding imported Covid-19 cases, 15 were reported in HCMC, seven in Ba Ria-Vung Tau and one in Long An. They were quarantined right after arriving in Vietnam.

The country has performed Covid-19 tests on over 3.7 million people and reported 6,045 Covid-19 cases in 39 cities and provinces in the fourth Covid-19 wave since April 27.

Bac Giang accounted for the most infections, with 3,333 cases, followed by Bac Ninh with 1,164 and HCMC with 461.

Some companies in HCMC have encouraged their workers to stay at the factories to ensure the uninterrupted production.

M.D.K, a clothing company in District 12, was locked down after a Covid-19 case was reported at its factory. The company sent 200 employees that worked in the same unit with the Covid-19 case to quarantine centers, while over 1,000 other employees were asked to stay at the factory for 14 days and undertake Covid-19 tests.

After they tested negative for Covid-19, the factory was able to resume operation.

Some other companies in the city have also allowed their workers to stay at the factories. They set up more toilets and bathrooms, install more fans and provide the employees with meals, hand sanitizers, mosquito spray and other necessities.

The city is home to 17 industrial parks, export processing zones and hi-tech parks with some 320,000 workers.

In Bac Giang, 43 companies with over 7,500 workers that meet requirements on Covid-19 infection prevention and control have been allowed to resume their operations.
