Getting ready to ring in Lunar New Year

HCMC – The bustling festive atmosphere is evident in every corner of the country as the Lunar New Year 2023 (Tet), the most significant festival in Vietnam, fast approaches.

As the weather gets warmer to mark the arrival of the festival, Vietnamese people eagerly tidy up their houses and flock to the market to buy goods for Tet, especially cherry blossoms in the northern region and Ochna integerrima (yellow Mai flowers) in the southern parts.

Other flowers and ornamental plants, namely chrysanthemums, kumquat trees, tagetes and marigolds, are also used to decorate houses in the hope of good luck in the new year.

Additionally, Vietnamese people keep busy preparing traditional dishes for Tet, including chung cakes, tet cakes, pickles and candied fruits.

A new year always comes with an exciting opportunity for a fresh start and new beginnings, so everyone excitedly prepares to welcome it, looking forward to positivity and happiness.
