HCMC traffic police proposes removing Dien Bien Phu roundabout

HCMC – The HCMC Traffic Police have proposed turning the Nguyen Binh Khiem – Dien Bien Phu roundabout in District 1 into a controlled intersection to reduce traffic congestion in this area.

The HCMC Road and Railway Traffic Police (PC08) wrote to the HCMC Department of Transport suggesting removing the Nguyen Binh Khiem roundabout in District 1 as there has been a sharp increase in vehicular traffic from the Saigon Bridge to the roundabout during rush hour, causing frequent traffic congestion in this area.

PC08 on February 10 conducted a site survey with the relevant authorities to enhance traffic safety and order at the Hang Xanh and Nguyen Binh Khiem roundabouts and Dien Bien Phu road.

A study to remove the Nguyen Binh Khiem roundabout and replace it with traffic control signals in this area was necessary, said PC08.
