Vietnam, Singapore eye stronger cooperation
HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, during his official visit to Singapore, met with President Halimah Yacob and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to discuss areas of mutual interest such as economy, security, defense, education, human resource development, tourism needs stimulation and cooperation in marine networks and new areas.

The leaders of the two countries agreed that high-level meetings conducted right after the reopening of their economies in 2022 have boosted trust, eliminated hurdles and paved the way for the two economies to recover and develop, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

The two countries will continue emphasizing cooperation in politics, security, defense, education and tourism as well as enhance cooperation in digital and green economy.

Speaking at the meeting with President Halimah Yacob, Chinh encouraged Singaporean firms to develop the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) into a green, smart and energy-saving industrial park and establish more VSIPs in other parts of Vietnam to ensure synchronous inter-regional development.

During his meeting with Lee, Chinh highly appreciated positive developments in bilateral relations between the two countries.

The two prime ministers agreed to boost exchanges and meetings at all levels via different channels in the upcoming time; promote economic cooperation and effectively implement cooperation agreements, including the MOU on establishing the “Vietnam – Singapore partnership on the digital and green economies”; and create favorable conditions for cooperation in circular economy, innovation, clean energy and climate change response.

Earlier, the prime minister met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Singapore and expressed his hope that these experts and intellectuals would effectively contribute to building and developing the country and promote the partnership between the two countries, especially in finance, innovation and digital technology, known as the strengths of Singapore.
