Four expys to be opened to traffic by year-end

HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has ordered four sections of the North-South expressway project be opened to traffic before December 31 this year.

The four sections are Cam Lo-La Son, Mai Son-National Highway 45, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet-Dau Giay, the local media reported.

Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang said that work on the four sections of the Eastern North-South expressway project in the 2017-2020 period is running smoothly.

Minister Thang asked the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board to quickly complete all components of the Cam Lo-La Son expressway this month, while finishing all procedures to put the road into operation in December.

The Thang Long Project Management Board and the Project Management Board No. 7 were told to closely manage the progress of the three other sections, Mai Son-National Highway 45, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet-Dau Giay.

Besides, these management boards were tasked with regularly checking the quality of the expressway projects and directing contractors to add workers and equipment to ensure that these sections will be opened to traffic by the end of this year.

As for the North-South expressway project in the 2021-2025 period, 40% of its technical designs have been appraised.

Minister Thang asked the management boards to speed up their appraisal and assessment operations to start work on 12 subprojects before November 15. In addition, they should cooperate with local authorities to quickly complete site compensation and resettlement processes to ensure that 70% of the cleared site is handed over before November 20.
