NDO - Politburo member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and Vice President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Pany Yathotou held a working session with leaders of Ha Giang province on April 29 as part of her official visit to Vietnam.

Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Ha Giang province Thao Hong Son expressed his pleasure to welcome and work with the Lao Vice President.

He noted that although Ha Giang does not share a border with Laos and has no Lao students studying in the area, Ha Giang province is implementing very active activities to boost relations with Laos’ localities. The Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association, Ha Giang chapter was established in 2014 with the participation of over 500 members who are Vietnamese veterans and experts, contributing to strengthening solidarity and friendship between the two sides.

According to Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Giang province Tran Duc Quy, Ha Giang is a border province in the North of Vietnam, 320km from Hanoi. The province has favourable weather, climate and soil conditions, with many special potentials to develop organic agricultural production. Some famous agricultural products of Ha Giang include king oranges, Shan Tuyet tea, mint honey, medicinal herbs and beef.

The province also has Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark which has become the must-visit destination in the province.

The Lao Vice President highly appreciated the efforts in socio-economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction that Ha Giang province has achieved in recent years. She noted that these will be the experiences for Laos to study and apply to its country, helping to enrich the lasting and eternal relationship between the two countries.
