HCMC - At least nine localities have relieved their students from schools as the Ministry of Education and Training asked education and training establishments to have plans in place to respond to a possible outbreak at schools.

On May 4, in-person learning was stopped at schools in Hanoi, Bac Giang, Ha Nam, Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen, Yen Bai, Danang, Quang Nam and An Giang to curb the spread of Covid-19 and classes for elementary to high school students were shifted online.

The Ministry of Education and Learning also released an official document on strengthening preventative measures against Covid-19 at educational institutions.

The ministry required that heads of departments of education and training and heads of educational institutions stay on high alert and coordinate closely with local authorities to keep themselves up to date with the current situation while actively outlining plans, scenarios and solutions to respond to possible outbreaks at schools.

Local schools should further strengthen communication and education to raise awareness over the responsibility of administrators, staff, teachers, students and students’ parents on pandemic prevention and control measures.

They must strictly adhere to the Ministry of Health’s 5K protocol, specifically wearing masks when commuting between home and school, measuring body temperature, monitoring health and disinfecting and cleaning schools and classrooms according to regulations.

They were also asked to implement the installation and assessment of safety levels of pandemic prevention on the Antoancovid app by completing personal checks and updating the results on the system twice a week, the local media reported.

At the same time, they were told to further execute anti-virus measures in local areas and those within the management’s scope as well as discipline organizations and individuals that violate pandemic preventive measures.
