HCMC – HCMC broke ground on a road linking Tran Quoc Hoan Street and Cong Hoa Street in Tan Binh District, connecting directly to the underway Terminal T3 at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport yesterday afternoon, December 24.

This road project requires a total investment of over VND4.8 trillion, including VND2.4 trillion for compensation and resettlement, VND1.5 trillion for construction costs, and other expenses.

With a length of around four kilometers, the road will have six lanes, starting at the C12-Cong Hoa-Truong Chinh intersection and ending at the Tran Quoc Hoan-Phan Thuc Duyen junction. Its design speed is 50 kph.

The project also comprises an overpass in front of Terminal T3 spanning 988 meters long and 17 meters wide, two nine-meter-wide underpasses at the intersections of Phan Thuc Duyen-Tran Quoc Hoan and Truong Chinh-Tan Ky Tan Quy.

This road is expected to ease traffic congestion on the streets of Cong Hoa and Truong Chinh and facilitate traffic around Terminal T3 of the Tan Son Nhat International Airport, especially when the T3 with a capacity of 20 million passengers/year is put into operation by the end of 2024.

The Tran Quoc Hoan-Cong Hoa connecting road includes six construction packages and some from design consultancy, supervision, insurance, and bomb disposal.

The first package of building a 600-meter-long underpass, sidewalks, and drainage system was started on December 24. Other packages will be carried out in March and April 2023 in accordance with the site clearance process.

Work the whole project is expected to be completed in September 2024 to serve the increasing traffic on the streets around Terminal T3 at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
