On April 18-19, Si Pha Phin Border Guard coordinated with the Drug and Crime Prevention (Dien Bien Border Guard), the Investigation Security Division (Dien Bien Police), and the Nam Po district police (Dien Bien) to arrest 12 people for organizing illegal exit for13 foreigners.

Accordingly, at 4 o'clock on April 18, the working group coordinated discovered a blue truck, bearing license plates of 27C-006.39 stopping in front of the grocery store, opening the door for strange people with suspicious actions to get off. Approaching the inspection, the Task Force discovered 7 men in the grocery store, including the driver, whose name is Nguyen Duc Giang (born 1960, residing in Nam Chim 1 village, Si Pa Phin commune, Nam Po district, Dien Bien province); the owner of the grocery store, named Sung A Chu (born 1986, Pu Dao village, Si Pa Phin commune, Nam Po district, Dien Bien province); and 5 Chinese.

Nguyen Duc Giang claimed to be hired by a female named Tuoi (Phong Sa Ly province, Laos) to drive those foreigners from Dien Bien province to landmark 75 in the Vietnam-Laos border route. He was paid VND 2 million (USD 87) for each trip.

At 4:00 on April 19, at the 30th kilometer on National Highway 4H (Dien Bien province), the force continued to arrest 18 people (10 Vietnamese, 8 foreigners) for the same actions. Currently, the Border Guard of Dien Bien is working with functional forces to prosecute the case in accordance with the law.

At 2 am on April 20, Kien Giang Border Guard said that the An Thoi port border gate working group discovered 4 women showing strange actions in the An Thoi fishing port area. After being investigated, they claimed that they departed from Cambodia to Vietnam on a fishing boat. There were 6 people, including 5 women and 1 man on the boat. These five women are from Bac Lieu, Binh Phuoc, Binh Dinh, and Tuyen Quang provinces.

These 5 women claimed that due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Cambodia, each trip to enter Vietnam from Cambodia cost between USD 1,000 and USD 1,200.

Kien Giang Border Guard Command has instructed specialized agencies to investigate and clarify the case, as well as hand over these 5 women to Phu Quoc health authorities to be isolated according to pandemic preventive regulations.

According to statistics, from February 20, 2021, more than 1,300 people found entered through Ha Tien International Border Gate, Kien Giang province. The functional forces also discovered more than 30 illegal entry cases with a total of nearly 150 people.
