Hanoi Vietnam: A city of peace and traditional specialties

When to visit Hanoi, Vietnam?

The best time to visit Hanoi is from August to November in autumn and from March to April in spring. Many people believe that autumn is the most beautiful weather in Hanoi. The sky is clear, the breeze may turn cold, the leaves may fall, and the smell of milkwood pine is here and there. Spring has arrived with warm weather, and the streets are like changing into new clothes. Trees sprout, and flowers bloom.

How to travel and where to stay in Hanoi, Vietnam?

You can ride a car, motorcycle, or bicycle. But if you sit on a tricycle around 36 old streets, or on an antique Vespa, the experience will be more poetic. Another suggestion worth considering is the double-decker bus, with fares ranging from 130000 VND to 599000 VND.

Hanoi offers many accommodation options for tourists, such as economy hotels, homestays, hotels, resorts, etc. You can rent a "Western-style" bed with a dormitory for about 100000 VND per night, and go to a luxury hotel priced between 3 million to 5 million VND.
There are also some particularly noteworthy hotels. For example, Sofitel Legend Metropolis Hanoi has French colonial architecture and is only a few steps away from the Grand Theatre. They are the Hilton Hanoi Opera and Apricot Hotel, located on the banks of Hoan Kiem Lake and renowned for their beautiful views of West Lake. And Hanoi Lotte Hotel is located on the 65th floor of the Lotte Center.

O Mai (Salted dried fruits)

With all the sour, spicy, salty, and sweet flavors converging the quintessence of Ha Thanh cuisine, O Mai is a gift many people choose to buy when leaving Hanoi. The most famous address of this snack is Hang Duong Street. Visitors can find their favorite types of apricots like apricots, plums, ginger, crocodiles, star fruit, lemons, kumquats, persimmons, peaches, toads, tamarind, etc. You should choose umbrella apricot because it has a sweet taste made from the sour fruit very typical of Hanoi. Depending on the type, the apricot umbrella costs about 100,000-150,000/kg.

Com (green rice)

The incense of Vong village has long created a unique charm for the capital's cuisine. However, because it is only available in the fall, Hang Than rice cake is a perfect alternative for many tourists. The rice cake is soft on the outside, with a layer of green bean paste mixed with greasy coconut inside, with a faint natural scent of grapefruit.

Lotus tea

Tay Ho lotus tea will be a precious gift for relatives and friends after visiting Hanoi because marinating lotus tea is an art with a lot of time and effort. The best dried tea pieces will be marinated 5-7 times with lotus rice (white seeds on the lotus stamen) to absorb the flavor. The marinated lotus must be grown in the lagoons of West Lake because it is fragrant and gives the most rice.
