Authorities in Costa Rica said on Tuesday all state workers will need to be vaccinated against COVID-19, making it one of the first countries in Latin America to impose a coronavirus vaccination mandate.   

Asian shares lost ground on Wednesday, and were set for their worst quarter since the pandemic hit, as worries about economic growth in China combined with fears of a global slowdown and a strong dollar to push equities markets lower.


* Russia has sent the United States questions on the AUKUS defence agreement and plans to send queries to Australia and the United Kingdom as well, the Interfax news agency cited Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov as saying on Wednesday.

* China administered about 3.0 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines on Sept. 27, bringing total doses to 2.203 billion, data from the National Health Commission showed.

* Household electricity prices in Italy are set to rise 29.8% in the next quarter and gas prices by as much as 14.4%, fuelled by an "extraordinary dynamic" in prices of raw materials that are heading for all-time highs, regulator Arera said.
