What are the Michelin Guides and Michelin Star?

The Michelin Guide is the world's leading culinary guide to locating excellent and prestigious restaurants and eateries worldwide to "show the way" to tourists and local food enthusiasts. And the Michelin star is the "measurement" to evaluate the restaurants, hotels, and eateries ... that visitors should experience.
The Michelin Star and Michelin Guide have become the pinnacle of culinary quality across the globe and are considered the "bible" for food enthusiasts. So when a restaurant or chef achieves a Michelin star, it brings personal honour and national pride.

List of 70 places to eat in Vietnam honoured by Michelin

On the evening of June 6, 2023, the launching ceremony of Michelin Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City took place in Hanoi, attracting the attention of experts and Vietnamese food lovers.
There are 70 Michelin Selected restaurants and eateries (recommended by the Michelin Guide), of which the number of culinary addresses in Hanoi is 32 and in Ho Chi Minh City is 38. There is also a list of 29 Bib Gourmand restaurants ( The restaurant has good food at an affordable price).

1. 1946 Cua Bac

The space is bold in the North, but the area is small. The bowl, mural, kettle or hot pot are all reminiscent of Hanoi of the old days, full of nostalgia, and suitable for bringing foreign guests and overseas Vietnamese to experience. 
Must-try dishes: bamboo chicken, beef fish, braised carp with pickles, pickles, bamboo shoots, salted pork leg and beef hot pot with corn water.

2. Cha Ca Thang Long

Located on a small street near Hanoi's ancient citadel, Thang Long Cha Ca restaurant at 19, 21, 31 Duong Thanh, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi is a red address many gourmets seek. 4. Pho bo Au Trieu

Tu Lun heirloom beef noodle soup, also known as Au million beef noodle soup, started selling at 40 Au Trieu Street - the street right next to Hanoi Cathedral since 1996 and is famous near and far for two dishes. Re-encrusted and re-cooked pho is available. Ms Ngo Phi Lan (64), the pho restaurant's owner, has been directly operating and processing pho for over two decades.
The shop is famous for its rare and well-cooked pho, wine sauce... And even after many generations of trading, Tu Lun retains the traditional flavour according to his father's recipe. Every day the amount of food sold is up to several hundred bowls, and never runs out of stock. The main secret is in the care and meticulousness from the purchase of raw materials to the processing stage of the seller.

5. Bun Cha Tuyet 34

The Bun Cha Tuyet restaurant mentioned in Saveur magazine is bun cha 34 Hang Than, also famous in Hanoi. "In this restaurant, locals and tourists sit so close to each other that their elbows touch their elbows," Saveur wrote. The rolls are wrapped in river bone leaves comparable to betel leaves. All ingredients, such as meat patties, garlic, chilli, thinly sliced carrots, green papaya, and vermicelli, are in a mixing bowl." 6. Pho 10 Ly Quoc Su

Pho 10 Ly Quoc Su isn't the only option but the best. The pho here has a distinct flavour that is frugal, sweet, and fragrant, with a rustic aftertaste. While eating, you can sense the elegance of the pho soup, which makes each spoonful of broth in your mouth feel as if it might stay there forever. Each piece of thinly sliced beef is visually appealing, demonstrating the inventiveness of each knife line. All sensations and senses come to life after a long winter break after biting a piece of meat and a little noodle soup. The piece encrusted with the bucket is soft and crispy. The feeling is indescribable.
The restaurant is modest yet spotless and has a welcoming environment. The menu for the restaurant is displayed directly beneath the dining table's glass. 7. Pho Ga Nguyet

The shop is in the Old Quarter, near Hang Bong, Duong Thanh and Phu Doan Streets.
When entering the store, your eyes will be met with "super huge" chicken trays. From whole chicken to ready-to-eat yellow shredded chicken, the stocky meat looks iridescent and rolls all eyes. Chicken here. The quality must be not 9.5 more than 10 points.
The taste buds will usually feel the taste, but especially in Pho Ga Nguyet, just by looking with your eyes, you can already see a part of the delicious taste.

8. Pho Gia Truyen

9. The East

The East is considered one of the most famous Vietnamese restaurants in Hanoi. Mon Viet Ngon Restaurant is quite famous among Vietnamese cuisine restaurants. 10. Xoi Com

Located in a small alley in Lang Ha, this place mainly serves traditional rice trays according to the sweet taste of the Southern people. Spacious, airy space with nostalgic corners reminiscent of a cosy family meal is a plus point at the restaurant. The menu here will change daily, from savoury dishes to diverse desserts and side dishes. 11. Bun Cha Ta (Nguyen Huu Huan Street)

Bun cha here mainly serves tourists. With a clean and airy space, fast ordering and very good quality, Bun Cha Ta Hanoi is gradually making its name in the hearts of bun cha believers.
Grilled vermicelli at Bun Cha Ta Hanoi has a very good taste with soft, full, fragrant meat, not burnt, with a delicious dipping sauce that is always kept hot and used, delicious, fragrant and greasy. 12. Habakuk

Appearing not too long ago, Habakuk Fine Coffee & Bistro has left many impressions on guests who visit here. Habakkuk is a hidden gem in the heart of the Hoan Kiem district because of its impressive space, excellent coffee quality and outstanding service.

13. Don Duck Old Quarter

Don Duck Old Quarter Restaurant receives the favour of diners with delicious food, especially duck dishes such as pan-fried duck with cast iron or duck with tamarind sauce, a professional service style, extremely enthusiastic and cute owner. 
Although located in the Old Quarter, the food prices are affordable, ranging from about 90,000 to 500,000 VND. Both vegetarian and gluten-free dishes are available here.
