NDO – Representatives from the Lao province of Oudomsay on June 18 handed over LAK260 million (US$27,600) to the Vietnamese Consulate General in Luang Prabang Province to assist the fight against COVID-19 in three Vietnamese provinces - Son La, Dien Bien and Lai Chau.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, a representative of the Oudomsay authority affirmed the great friendship between Laos and Vietnam, expressing his belief that under the leadership of the provincial Party organisations and authorities, the Vietnamese localities will soon curb the spread of the pandemic and overcome the difficulties to restore production and business in service of socio-economic development.

With the gift, the Party committee, authorities and people of Oudomsay wish to join hands with the Vietnamese localities and people to quickly put COVID-19 under control and stop its spread, shared the representative.

Vietnamese Consul General in Luang Prabang Nguyen Dang Hung expressed his gratitude for the Lao province’s noble act towards the Government and people of Vietnam, affirming that the donations will soon be sent to Vietnam to serve the fight against the pandemic.

Earlier that day, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Luang Prabang also received LAK200 million (US$21,160) as a gift from the Lao province of Bokeo to assist the Vietnamese provinces of Son La, Dien Bien and Lao Cai in their anti-pandemic efforts.
