Vietnam’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport has recently ranked by Skytrax as a top 10 best airports worldwide serving 20-25 million passengers a year
The British international air transport rating organization compiled the list by surveying passengers about infrastructure, service quality, personnel and procedure processes at over 500 airports in the world.
It said on its website: "These awards use the air traffic statistics for departure, arrival, and transit from 2020, and group together airports handling a similar volume of customers to give a like-for-like analysis."
The terminals at Tan Son Nhat have recently been upgraded, and more screening equipment has been installed, VNE reported.
It has received Airport Health Accreditation from the Airports Council International after having taken preventive measures against Covid-19.
In 2020, Tan Son Nhat served over 22 million passengers.
The previous year, before the pandemic began, it had handled some 40 million passengers against a designed capacity of 25 million per year.
Last year, Noi Bai International airport in Hanoi also made it into the world’s top 100 airport listing for the fifth consecutive year in 2020, announced the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).
The airport reportedly slipped one place from last year to 87th in the annual ranking released Tuesday by Skytrax.
Noi Bai, Vietnam’s second busiest airport after Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City, has a capacity of 25 million passengers per year with two terminals and two runways. 29.2 million passengers used the airport last year, up 13 percent from a year ago.
The airport, 35 km (22 miles) north of Hanoi's center, has improved tremendously in recent years after being considered one of the worst in Asia during 2014 by survey site The Guide to Sleeping in Airports. The airport first gained a place on the list in 2016 when the second terminal was put into operation, reported the vnexpress.
The airport has improved its management quality while increasing channels to receive passenger feedback through email, hotline, website, social media, and the eSmile platform.
It also provides passengers with free wifi and mobile phone charging outlets, along with enhancing its landscape and facilities.
