Gas stations in HCMC asked to stay open

HCMC - The HCMC Department of Industry and Trade has issued a dispatch asking gas stations to ensure a sufficient supply of gasoline and other fuels and stay open during the implementation of the city’s social distancing mandate in the Covid-19 pandemic.

The department said it is the agency that has the authority to close or suspend these gas stations. But gas stations can suspend their operations if any of their staff is infected with Covid.

Fuels are a key strategic item and play an important role in transporting essential goods and food and for production, emergency and security activities, according to the dispatch.

The department told oil and petrol suppliers in the city to map out detailed plans for fuel storage to prevent any supply disruptions, the local media reported.

In addition, the department asked the fuel outlets to strictly follow anti-virus safety protocols in line with Directive 12 issued by the Standing Board of the HCMC Party Committee.

Employees at gas stations must wear face masks, safety glasses and gloves, regularly wash hands and maintain a safe physical distance from customers.
