Exhibition ‘Communist Party of Vietnam through congresses’

More than 200 typical documents, exhibits, and images have been selected and displayed reflecting the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam, congresses, and activities towards the XIII Congress.

These days, the National History Museum in collaboration with the Archives Department of the Party Central Office organizes an exhibition to look back on the formation and development of the Communist Party of Vietnam, on the 91st anniversary of the establishment of the Communist Party. property of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 – February 3, 2021) and aims to welcome the XIII National Congress of the Party.

Five years later, the First Congress of the Communist Party of Indochina met at No. 2, Quan Cong Street (Macau, China), from March 27-31, 1935. The Congress elected the Party Central Committee, consisting of 13 members, 9 official members and 4 alternate members.

The Second National Congress of the Communist Party of Indochina was held in Vinh Quang commune (now Kim Binh commune), Chiem Hoa district, Tuyen Quang province, from February 11 to 19, 1951. The congress decided to make the Party openly and named the Vietnam Labor Party.

The meeting was held from September 5 to 10, 1960 in Hanoi.

The Fourth National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam met in Hanoi, from December 14-20, 1976.

1,008 delegates on behalf of more than 1.5 million party members nationwide attended the Congress. Among those delegates were 214 delegates to the Party before the August Revolution of 1945, 200 deputies were imprisoned by the empire, 39 delegates were heroes of the armed forces and labor heroes, 142 deputies were women, 98 representatives of ethnic minorities … Attending the Congress also had 29 delegations of the Communist Party, the Workers’ Party, the national liberation movement and international organizations.

The 5th National Congress of the Party met in Hanoi, from March 27-31, 1982. Attending the Congress, there were 1,033 delegates on behalf of more than 1.7 million party members nationwide.

The 6th National Congress of the Party met in Hanoi, from December 15-18, 1986.

On the basis of analyzing and assessing the country’s situation, self-criticizing on mistakes and shortcomings, renewing ideological innovation through many researches and experiments from practice, the Congress proposed the Doi Moi reform.

The Seventh National Congress of the Party held in Hanoi, from June 24-27, 1991; continue to perform the task of bringing the country on the path of innovation

The Eighth National Congress of the Party held in Hanoi, from July 28, 1996. The congress was attended by 1,198 party members, representing nearly 2 million party members in the country.

The Ninth National Congress of the Party met in Hanoi, from April 19-22, 2001.

The Party’s Ninth Congress has evaluated the 71-year leadership of the Vietnamese revolution, summarized 5 years of implementation of Resolution VIII Congress, 15 years of renewal, 10 years of implementation of the socio-economic strategy, to draw out lessons learned from the renovation, from which to develop and perfect the path and formulate the national development strategy in the first two decades of the twenty-first century.

The Tenth National Congress of the Party met in Hanoi, from April 18-25, 2006.

Congress X of the Party reviews and evaluates the implementation of the Resolution of the Ninth Congress, the implementation of the five-year socio-economic development (2001-2005), the 10-year socio-economic development strategy (2001). -2010) and look back on 20 years of innovation; from then on to continue developing and perfecting paths, views, setting orientations, goals and tasks for the 5-year national development (2006-2010); directions and tasks for Party building; supplement and amend a number of points in the Party Charter; elect the X Central Executive Committee.

The Party’s XI National Congress was held in Hanoi, from January 12-19, 2011. The total number of delegates attending the congress is 1,377 delegates, representing more than 3.6 million party members nationwide.

The XIIth National Congress of the Party held in Hanoi, from 20-28 January 2016.

The theme of the Congress is “Strengthening the building of a clean and strong Party; promoting the strength of the entire nation and socialist democracy; promoting comprehensively and synchronously the innovation; firmly defending the Party. to maintain a peaceful and stable environment; strive to soon transform our country into a modern industrial country ”.

The exhibition also displays portraits of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam from time to time.

The exhibition is open until the end of May 2021.
