Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong said that for many years, from Can Gio going to Vung Tau outside the road, there were only wooden ships with low tonnage, unable to carry cars. Therefore, the sea ferry operating outside to meet the needs of people also reduces pressure on roads, especially the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway and National Highway 51 (Dong Nai).

“If the previous time from Can Gio by car to Vung Tau City by road took 3 hours and 30 minutes, now it takes only 30 minutes to take the ferry”, Mr. Phong said and assessed that the offshore ferry would create conditions for Can Gio to connect. communication with neighboring provinces also contributes to regional economic, social and tourism development.

The transport route also shortens the time from Long An, Tien Giang to Vung Tau compared to Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway. People of these two provinces can go from Can Giuoc district (Long An) via Can Gio – Can Giuoc ferry, about 40 km to Tac Suat wharf. Total time is about 2 hours 30 minutes.
