Thanh Hoa: Nghi Son Economic Zone expanded
Accordingly, in addition to the old area, the economic zone will be expanded to the remaining area of Tinh Gia District; the three communes of Yen My, Cong Binh and Cong Chinh in Nong Cong District; and the three communes of Thanh Tan, Thanh Ky and Yen Lac in Nhu Thanh District. It will have a total area of 106,000 hectares.
The adjustment and expansion of Nghi Son Economic Zone is line with the national development strategy in general and Vietnam’s sea development strategy in particular; with the aim of helping it dynamically, rapidly and sustainably develop to become a main point in the south of the northern key economic region.
The expansion is also expected to make it an attractive centre for investment and the transshipment of goods in the region, as well as to contribute to closely associating the economy with ensuring defence and security.
Nghi Son Economic Zone was built to become a multi-sectoral industrial development area in association with construction and effectively exploitation of deep-water seaports, focusing on petrochemical and basic industries.
Relevant agencies set a target of creating a favourable investment and trade environment, implementing projects related to important economic and social infrastructure and attracting both domestic and foreign investors by 2025.
The plan also focuses on synchronously developing industry, services, trade, finance, culture, society and eco-tourism in the zone, in line with maintaining defence and security, towards a green, sustainable, dynamic and modern urban area.
