The most crowded place on the occasion of the Lantern Festival in Ho Chi Minh City

HO CHI MINH CITY -Ong Lang Pagoda, art parade streets, District 5 Cultural Center, and Vietnamese – Chinese food street are places that attract tourists.

“Yuanxiao” (January full moon) means the first full moon night of the new year. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, people often go to temples and shrines to pray for a year of peace, health, and prosperity.

Since 1990, the Nguyen Tieu festival has been held on a large scale in District 5, bearing the mark of the community with many special programs. On this occasion, visitors can immerse themselves in the colorful and bustling spaces of the street and enjoy typical cuisine at the following three locations.

Ong Lang Temple

Ong Lang Assembly Hall (Ong Lang Pagoda) located on Lao Tu Street is a Chinese temple with a campus of 1,800 m2. The pagoda was built in the style of an ancient Chinese temple, with a curved roof with many sophisticated ceramic motifs, bearing the bold Fujian architecture.

This place worships 16 gods according to Chinese beliefs, established by the local community. People can come to pray for fortune, luck, peace, expensive trade, and a prosperous family. Guests come to pray, in addition to the left cake, they should buy more red thread rolls with pre-threaded needles, placed at the altar of Hoa Phat Madam.

After visiting the temple, you should go to see the street art parade with colors, flags, costume characters, drums, trumpets, bustling music… with the participation of 800 actors. This year, the actors will march from 16:30 to 18:30 on February 15 (January 15) along the route: Hai Thuong Lan Ong – Chau Van Liem – Lao Tu – Luong Nhu Hoc – Nguyen Trai – Tran Xuan Hoa – Trung Cultural Center District 5.

After the parade, at the Cultural Center of District 5, the outdoor stage area had the Nguyen Tieu festival. This place has programs: singing and dancing, watching movies introducing Nguyen Tieu festival – National Intangible Cultural Heritage, lion – monk – dragon performance, collective painting, sowing hydrangea cocoons. .. In addition, about 50 large-sized paintings with various themes of spring, people, the rhythm of life, nature… are on display for visitors to enjoy.

In the evening, enjoy Chinese – Vietnamese dishes at 107 Tran Hung Dao. This place has about 50 food stalls, more than 100 Vietnamese – Chinese dishes such as dim sum, longevity noodles, char siu, tea, persimmon eggs wrapped in crispy fried meat, grilled beef with black cedar cream sauce… Space Restaurants are decorated with red lanterns and yellow apricots, bringing a sense of joy.

In the process of experiencing delicious dishes, visitors can watch the performances of music, dance, magic at the center stage… in a bustling atmosphere.
