City in the clouds epic photos of Dalat s misty season

From April to May, a cloud of mist covers the southern city of Dalat, where it looks like the setting of a mysterious fairytale

Dalat City is drowned mist at 5 a.m. in the morning, with the hightlight being Lam Vien Square; its typical architectural shapes are wild sunflower and artichoke bud flowers. The photo, taken by apanoramic photography technique, aligning the pictures together, belongs to the “Mist on the plateau” album of photographer, Nguyen Hieu, who works and lives in Dalat. Hieu has a passion for taking pictures of Dalat in the mist, capturing its distinctive beauty perfectly. The photograph above was taken in Cu Hill and the golf course right next to Xuan Huong Lake on a misty morning. (Photo: VnExpress)

The mist floats above Tam An Pagoda, located on Dinh Tien Hoang Street near Xuan Huong Lake. The pagoda was built in 1974, and the highlight is the yellow stupa. Langbiang mountain is located in Lac Duong District which is 12 km from Dalat in the North. (Photo: VnExpress)

Con Ga Church in Dalat is located on Tran Phu Street, also known as the Cathedral of Da Lat. The church is a typical example of architecture left over from the French colonial period, and one of the largest churches in the city. The origin of the church’s name comes from the large chicken statue on the top of the bell tower. (Photo: VnExpress)

From Du Sinh Hill, tourists can see houses and the pine woods through the cloudy mist, which slowly becomes more visible under the light of dawn. The hill is about 5 km from the centre of Dalat, and is known as the best spot for cloud hunting. (Photo: VnExpress)

Morning at Tram Hanh Commune, about 26 km from Dalat in the South East. Hieu wakes up before dawn, as 7 a.m. is the perfect time to capture the mist. (Photo: VnExpress)

"The beauty of Dalat City has faded, and the misty scenes have been dissapearing where there used to be the 'misty city'. Through moments like these, I want to share them to people, and urge them to protect the natural beauty in Dalat, so that people can still see the cloud of mist dangling on the pine trees," Hieu said.
